A finely-tuned collaboration

Focus’ winning approach delights Smith Madden and Australian brewing giant, Foster’s Group.


Interior designers Smith Madden Group called on the experienced Focus team to fitout Foster’s new Queensland head office. 

The project involved the complete refurbishment and fitout of a renovated building in fashionable James Street, Fortitude Valley. The 1,200sqm of internal space incorporated 90 open-plan work stations and offices, a large communications and data area, contemporary staff break-out areas, an audiovisual room and various meeting rooms. 

Focus was also responsible for transforming the brand new outdoor area built adjacent to the premises into a dynamic entertainment hub for Foster’s staff and clients. They constructed large shade sails, decking and seating areas to maximise the usability of this space.


Focus employed their stand-out collaboration skills to manage the construction of this project. They liaised effectively with the builder, developer, Smith Madden and Foster’s to align every aspect of the fitout. They also worked in line with on-site building requirements to ensure existing building warranties were maintained.

The biggest challenge Focus faced was completing work in an unfinished building. The large slab for the outdoor entertainment area was still being poured while they were fitting out the internal space. Despite the fact that this major construction work was still in progress, Focus managed to deliver on schedule and within budget.


True to form, Focus Fitout Specialists delivered a challenging project for a big-name client with minimal hold ups, stress or hitches. They worked in partnership with the client-appointed builder and established a staged program of works so that everyone had the access they needed. This allowed the simultaneous internal fitout and external building work to happen with little difficulty.
